Authentic Paul
Cézanne Signature

  • Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) usually signed his paintings "P. Cezanne." He wrote in a stylized cursive that has been programmed as a popular computer font.

  • Cézanne considered many of his paintings to be unfinished and therefore left them unsigned. There are also a number of forged Cézanne paintings due to the artist's popularity and unique painting style.

  • Cézanne often signed his paintings along the bottom edge of the canvas. He signed with different paint colors in a rather subtle fashion, not letting the signature compete with the image.
